• Attention all users. Especially the newer ones. This info was known to the early members but membership has recently exploded. [*** To join this forum,

- Active employees can click the "Register" button at the top-right of your screen.
- Retirees need to send an email to me. Click the "Contact us" button at the very bottom of the page to send me an email. I will request some more info from you. Or you can figure out my sneaky way of telling you my email in Step 4 below. No company email is required.
- If you are having troubles signing up, you can send me an email or post something in this public part of the forum. Your post will not seen by others (only moderators and I can see those posts), but I will see it and reply here or to an email address you provide.
- Someone just tried to join and messed up their company email. He realized this and applied again, but this is a good 'teaching moment.' If you sign up but don't get any response for a week or 2, keep scrolling down. I can usually see sign-up errors but I can't contact you directly if you messed up your company email. However, I can make some mention to you in this public thread to help get you onto the right track to join.

Welcome to The (Bastard) Line, a small attempt to replace a very useful but now discontinued (and now resurected!) forum. [Edited to add: Screw it! That forum goes up and down more times than a yo-yo. I'm done changing this intro to keep up with their status.]

Someone suggested that I point out that this place looks A LOT like The Line used to look before our recently ousted president came into power. We have:
- Company Operations - with individual fleet forums
- Union Stuff
- General Topics - including Military, Medical, Retirement, Overnight, and Days Off sections
- THE NEW BEAR PIT! - You can pretty much say what you want there!

Some things to keep in mind before registering...

[Edit 18Mar25 - I've just removed my long and wordy appeal to everyone of every political persuasion. Not because I've changed my mind on politics, but just because it was too long and wordy! So here's a summary: I don't care what your politics are. Sign up and c'mon in! Treat other members with respect and you will have no problems here. We've had a couple of people not treating other with respect. They are still welcome here but there are limits I have set up, mostly outside of my own desires, that can expel them. Those people have not yet reached those limits. I stress again that they are still welcome here. Politics don't matter here, personal behavior does.]

1) Known Trolls, Putzes, and Spammers (TPSs) are not welcome. If you become one after joining, your membership here may be revoked.

2) If you are an active pilot on the union's seniority list, just sign up normally. But please use your real employee number and company email. That is the only way I can make sure you are you and a real person who should be in this forum.

Here is how the signup process works for active pilots.
2A) See the button on the top right of the screen that says "Register"? Click that to start the sign-up process.
2B) Apply here using your real Company Email and Employee Number.
2C) Check your Company Email and look for email from this site. Click on the 'Confirm your email' button'.
A recent new member told me that clicking the button brings you back to this site. Just wait a while, because that seems to be where I step in personally.
2D) You clicking on that button sends me a notice that you provided a valid email and you are probably you. Now I just check your employee number to your company email and you're approved, unless you are a known TPS. Please keep in mind that I am a working pilot. This last step might take a few days.
2E) Keep an eye on your company email. You should get a confirmation response when you have been approved to fully join the forum.

3) New Hires - Please wait until you are on APA's Seniority List before registering. This is just so that you can be verified as a qualified pilot, not just some random employee from another work group.

4) Retirees - You are welcome here, unless you become a TPS ;). But you will need to jump through some hoops to join because the "Contact us" link does not allow you to attach an image. Instead, send an email to...

admin@[this-website].org (Replace [this website] with - "notsoalliedpilots". I'm typing it this way to avoid skimming bots that scan websites in order to phish/scam them. Sorry for any inconvenience or confusion.)

ETA: I just learned that retirees can get a retiree ID from the company! Who knew?!

Retirees, if you don't have a retiree ID, get one! Take a picture or scan of your retiree ID and send it to the email that I have hinted at above. I figure that should work.

(I'll include the following alternate instructions if you don't have one or can't get one.)

Include a picture or scan of your driver's license with everything blocked out except your name, state, and the last 5 digits of your driver's license number.

Here's an example...

DL sample 03.jpg

I require this to make sure that you are really you and that no one is PhotoShopping a random ID to steal your ID. Also, please add your old employee number and a bit of job related info that pilots would know. Maybe a good work related story with some company related details? This might help me prevent random people from joining.

I will have to manually create an account for you. Please provide your screen-name and the temporary password you would like to use. Also include your old employee number to keep out random people. I strongly encourage you to change that temp password after you have gotten into the forum.)

If you have problems with these requirement, press the "Contact Us" link below and state your issue. I'll see what I can do. (y)

5) Non-union folks - I don't know if APA has you in its records. If not, see the guidance for retirees. If it does, please send me a DM so that I can remove this note.

6) This forum is NOT a commercial enterprise. This forum is a labor of love and I make no money from it. AUP Rule #8 does not apply to this website. It is also a labor of disappointment in APA.

***Once you've joined this site, I STRONGLY suggest you scroll to the bottom of the home page and check out "Tips and tricks">"Reactions" before you dislike any posts. I’ve made a major change to what you're familiar with and your "dislikes" could have major consequences. ***

This public part of the forum is not for general posting. It is just a backup way of contacting me. Please do not post here unless you somehow can't use the "Contact us" button below (it sends me an email but does not require your company email. You can use your normal personal email for me to respond) or you get no response to that email for several days.

To the person who just posted his company email and employee number here today - As far a I know, you should be able to join normally. Look for the "Register" button on the top-right of this page. Then enter the info there.

Contact me here or or respond to the email I just sent to you if you have more problems.
